If you are considering a career at the Bar, a mini-pupillage is a good way to find out more.
Mini-pupillages at Three Stone give you an opportunity to experience the work we do and the atmosphere in chambers.
You will spend 1 – 3 days with us, shadowing members, reading and discussing papers and attending court and conferences. We will make sure you have every opportunity to ask any questions you may have. At the end, we are happy to give feedback but do not formally assess you.
We recommend that prospective candidates apply after at least one year of an undergraduate law degree or a term of the GDL. Applications should be by cv and short covering letter to mini-pupillage@threestone.law or sent to our chambers address marked “Mini-pupillage: for the attention of Mark Baldock/John-Paul Tettmar-Saleh”.
We consider applications for mini-pupillage three times a year, as follows:
- For mini-pupillages in January-April, applications should be received by 4pm on 30 October the preceding year, and candidates should expect a response by mid-November;
- For mini-pupillages in May-August, applications should be received by 4pm on 31 January, and candidates should expect a response by mid-February;
- For mini-pupillages in September-December, applications should be received by 4pm on 30 June, and candidates should expect a response by mid-July.
Please note that we do not fund our mini-pupillages. Lincoln’s Inn do, however, offer a ‘Mini-Pupillage Grant Scheme’ which also offers financial assistance to students who have secured a mini-pupillage but need additional funds to complete it. More details including all of the application criteria and application form can be found here.
Please wear a suit if that is your preference. However, many members of chambers do not wear suits unless they are in court or meeting clients so smart casual wear is also acceptable.
