Barristers are pre-eminent trial lawyers in the courts of England and Wales. The oral tradition of trial advocacy still thrives in the UK courts and it is therefore the barrister, as trial advocate, who often determines the strategy and presentation of contentious legal business.
Barristers also act as specialist legal advisers within their fields of expertise.
We are well placed to liaise with clients and with their professional colleagues, in London and abroad. As barristers’ engagements are case specific, they do not compete for business with solicitors and other lawyers who instruct them.
